Ronald DeWard Parish, 75, of Yorkville, IL, passed from the loving arms of his wife, Becky, to the open arms of Jesus on Saturday morning, February 10, 2018. Ron was born on November 26, 1942 in Nashville, TN, the son of Hobart and Grace Parish.
Ron was a lifetime salesman. He began his career at the age of 17, working as a route salesman for RC Cola in Nashville, driving, as he called it, a “cold drink” truck. His hard work and “people skills” landed him several promotions with the RC Cola Co. which, in turn, led to a sales position with Nabisco.
In 1969, he joined McCormick Spice Co. as a salesman in Nashville, proving once again his ability to “sell the sizzle.” Ron’s continued success with McCormick lasted 30 years, ending with the title of Midwest Regional Sales Manager. Two years later, he was hired as Vice President of sales for Tone Brothers/Durkee, French’s Spice Island Spices which lasted eight years.
After his retirement, Ron helped his wife, Becky, at Marcley’s Gas Station in Oswego, IL. It was there that he made several friends who spent their early morning drinking coffee and “cuttin’ up” as Ron would say. These gas station buddies formed a very close bond over time and he loved them dearly.
In 2003, Ron, Becky, Becky’s mother and cousin David attended Harvest Baptist Church in Oswego, IL. Harvest was having their yearly Jamboree under a huge outdoor tent that day and Pastor Scott Poling came riding in on a horse. That got their attention!! A second visit the following Sunday convinced them of the spiritual void in their lives. Ron’s eyes were opened to the truth of salvation and in February 2004, Ron, along with Becky, Mother and David were baptized.
Since that day, Ron has served the Lord at church, volunteering with PADS serving on the Kendall County PADS Board and taking in the homeless at his own home.
Ron has touched many lives with his generous heart and loving devotion to family, friends and those in need. He will always be remembered for his light hearted, fun loving personality.
Ron is survived by his wife, Becky Olsen Parish, his two children, Ronald DeWard Parish Jr. (Selina) of Yorkville, Rhonda Raye Parish Lea of Gallatin, TN and their mother, Virginia Raye Carman Parish of Gallatin, TN. Four grandchildren: Sylvia, Ronnie and Heather Parish and Bobby Lea. Three great grandchildren: Maggie, Emalyn and Chase. A sister, Bettie Faye (Jerry) Zimmerle. Her children: Tracey, Toni, Jerry Wayne, Trent and many great nieces and nephews. The entire Olsen family, cousin David, who was like a brother and Joe Harper, his longtime close friend and colleague, as well as his beloved dog, Molly and his three kitties, Faith, Hope and Lovie.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Grace Parish, infant daughter, Ginger Lynn, and beloved mother-in-law, Helen Olsen.

Not to mention picking up family members at the airport and plowing the drive. And Todd Milliron who helped Ron and Becky through Ron’s entire illness, finding a need and filling it.
