Van Fleet Family, John taught and coached at Streator while I worked at WIZZ and then I became Superintendent at Woodland. He was always a truly class act. He was a fine coach and was such a great role model for his students and players. He even came out to Woodland and assisted us with driver education at a time when we did not have a driver education teacher. I now live in the Kansas City area and regret not being able to pay my respects to you in person. He will long be remembered and respected by those whose lives he touched. I will be keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers as you go through the difficult adjustment to life without such a wonderful man.

I was saddened to hear John passed away. Fleets was one of the good guys. I was thankful to call him my friend.

I met John by chance as he was a patient of mine. One year later I would meet John again at the Chemo clinic. He was so positive and very nice to chat with as we sat there together. I’m not sure how he ever remembered who I was but I was grateful for our conversations. My heart is breaking for you Kelly, thoughts and prayers to all the families.

Kelly and family, even though I only had the distinct honor and privilege of knowing John a little less than 3 years, I counted him among my very best friends, He always had a great shoulder to lean on, and an even better heart to hear my problems. I'm glad my buddy is no longer suffering, but instead enjoying eternal glory. I will never forget you, and loved you like the older brother I never had. Rest in peace, my brother and friend.
